I was pretty miffed when I cam across a video on Tumblr recently of a debate on tattoos. Katie Hopkins, a UK business woman and reality TV personality, was mentioned as saying that "if you have a tattoo you will never be a high achiever."
I was appalled by the notion that "if you have a tattoo, you have to wonder about what sort of future you've got ahead of you." This brashly ignorant statement leads me to wonder if actually she knows of all the successful people throughout history who've had tattoos. If not, let me just list a few:
Winston Churchill
Michael Phelps
Franklin D. Roosevelt
King Frederick IX of Denmark
Helen Mirren
George Orwell
Thomas Edison
Princess Stephanie of Monaco
Steve Luczo
Donovan Fereira Rodrigues
So, in other words, you can have a tattoo and still be a Noble Prize winner, an Olympic gold medalist, a president, a king, an Academy Award winner, a famed novelist, an inventor, a princess, a CEO, and a scientist.
And how does Hopkins stack up against these "bad role models?" Oh, yes...she was on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Right. So, instead of judging, Ms. Hopkins, it's always best to look within.
